Eileen M. Daily Scholarship

Purpose – The Eileen M. Daily Scholarship has been established by the Connecticut Water Company to honor her outstanding public service career, particularly in the area of open space preservation and environmental protection.

Beginning locally on the Westbrook Board of Education, subsequently elected for three terms as the town’s First Selectman, and then serving twenty years as the district’s Connecticut State Senator, Eileen M. Daily personifies a tireless dedication and relentless commitment to service. Throughout her distinguished tenure, her honesty and integrity were underscored by incredible kindness, lasting friendships, and great humor.

Criteria for Selection

The candidate must be an individual of good moral character who has demonstrated their exceptional commitment to the community through service in the school and/or other community organizations.
The candidate must be a student who demonstrates the highest level of integrity and honesty.
The candidate must be a graduating senior and a Westbrook resident.
The candidate is intending to attend a technical institution, two year or four year college.

Scholarship Board – The student is chosen by the Westbrook Foundation after consultation with the appropriate educators and staff. Financial need is not a major factor.

Procedure to Apply

  • The candidate must complete a “Westbrook Foundation Application”.
  • The candidate must complete a 200-300 word essay that lists interests, ambitions, concerns, and/or specific plans for the future and discuss commitment to service to the community.
  • The candidate’s official transcript will be attached by the Guidance Department when you hand in your completed application.
  • The candidate must submit 2 letters of recommendation.

Notification – A formal presentation of the scholarship will be given to the successful candidate at graduation.

Award – A one-time award of $1,000 will be presented to the successful candidate at the graduation exercises.

Deadline: Applications are due in the Guidance office or mailed to The Westbrook Foundation, Inc. and postmarked on or before April 1st.
